An endless dungeon type mode where the goal is to survive and clear each room as fast as possible the longer you last the higher your score when you die you restart.
Players have a chance to earn Essences through (random drops?), achievements, and clearing (certain?) stages. Essences can be used to incrementally improve character attributes (such as HP, etc.), making future runs easier.
Additionally, a player's score will contribute to town upgrades. Upon achieving milestones of cumulative score, quests to upgrade the town will become available. One such quest is to retrieve the carpenter's hammer from the first boss such that he can remove a tree from the town.
