Experience is a hidden stat and determines your player level. The only in-game indication of experience is the blue bar, from which you level up when filled. The amount of exp you get depends on the difference in level between the player and either the enemy killed, or the quest completed. Quest levels are indicated by the amount of exp they reward (even though this isn't the actual amount of exp you get, because that is different for characters of different levels). Difference in level is defined as player level - source level, which means it can be negative (to differentiate between being underleveled and overleveled for a certain enemy/quest).

There are a few exceptions in which case the player gets more exp:

  • +600 exp if the player is level 1
  • +100 exp if arcade mode is active
  • 2x exp if the source is a miniboss
  • 4x exp if the source is a boss or a Quest
  • Overshooting a level causes half of the extra exp to be counted for the next level
  • If the exp granted is lower than 1, it is set to 1
  • In a multiplayer game, the exp is divided by the player count, then multiplied by (0.7 + 0.3 * player count)

Each level up requires 10000 EXP in total.
